It’s officially Fall in Southern California and while our seasons might not change much, our interests do. There are dozens of seasonal activities happening around the San Diego area, but here are our top 5 favorites for the entire family. 

Watch the Fall colors take place at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. You’ll see the Japanese maple trees turn brilliant shades of red as well as bright orange and yellow from other trees and shrubs. Don’t leave without bringing the kids over to enjoy the koi pond too. 

Visit Bates Nut Farm, San Diego’s favorite family-owned nut farm, pumpkin patch, and fall activities center. Along with shopping for candy and pumpkins in the same place, they also hold special events. One of the most popular fall activities in San Diego is bringing the kids to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park’s Roar and Snore Safari. Every Saturday, kids of all ages are invited to a sleepover at the park. Enjoy a special animal encounter or ride on the African Tram. The tent options vary from basic to luxurious. Head over to Julian for a classic Fall activity, apple picking. It might not be cold enough to break out your fall wardrobe, but you can plan a day trip to this historic gold-mining town known for its fall foliage and apple picking.
